IPv6 Connections

Internet Protocol version 6 (IPv6) is the latest revision of the IP communications protocols, which are used to route most
traffic on the Internet. IPv6 was created to resolve the address exhaustion issue with IPv4. However, many routers and
servers currently in use do not support IPv6, making a connection between devices with an IPv6 address to devices that
only support IPv4 difficult. This guide will help you set up an IPv6 connection.
IPv6 was developed by the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF). Before continuing, make sure that IPv6 is supported
by your ISP.
1
Open the AirStation's Settings page and navigate to Advanced Settings - Status - System Information to verify your
current connection method.
2
Navigate to Internet - IPv6 and select "IPv6 IPoE".
3
Select the method of obtaining the IPv6 prefix. IPv6 prefixes are expressed in the same way as Classless Inter-
Domain Routing (CIDR) notation for IPv4. An IPv6 prefix is written in address/prefix-length notation. You can select
"DHCPv6-PD" to automatically acquire the IPv6 prefix from the DHCPv6 server, or click "Manual" to manually enter
the IPv6 prefix into the "Global Prefix" field. You may choose the prefix length (48 or 64) for notation.
4
If you selected "Manual" above, enter the IPv6 default gateway address into the "IPv6 Default Gateway" field. This
field can be left blank if you selected "DHCPv6-PD" above. If entering the default gateway address, be sure to enter
the correct address, or a connection will never be established.
