Heater Assembly

The heater assembly is located on the back of
the cabinet. It consists of two ribbon elements
fastened to a single housing, thermistor, inlet and
high limit thermostats.

Thermostat
The thermistor and thermostats are not
replaceable. It is necessary to replace the heater
assembly when a faulty thermostat or thermistor
is detected.
Heater Assembly
Both elements are controlled by relays
on the control board. Heater 1, rated at
1,600W, approximately 34.3Ω (ohms), draws
approximately 24 amps at 240 VAC. Heater 2,
rated at 700W, draws approximately 3 amps at
240 VAC and has an approximate resistance
value of 75.8Ω (ohms).
Both heaters can be checked from K4 relay (red)
wire to the (red) wire on the K3 relay. Look for
the approximate resistance value of 109Ω (ohms).
The heaters can be checked individually for
confirmation at the heater connecter black to
brown for Heater 2; And black to red for Heater
1.
Operation of the heater assembly can be
checked by using the Service Mode test (see
Service Mode Test in the Diagnostics and
Service Information section of this service
guide).
Heater Assembly Removal
1. Remove back heater access panel (see
Heater Access Panel in this section of this
service guide).
2. Disconnect the wire harnesses connecter
located at the lower rear inside cabinet.

3. Remove four Phillips-head screws securing
the air duct to the back panel.
4. Lift and remove complete heater assembly.
