Video head cleaning
Video head clogging
The video heads are the means by which the D V D /V C R reads
the picture from the tape during playback. In the unlikely event
that the heads become dirty enough to be clogged, no picture
will be playe d ba ck. T his ca n e a sily be de te rm ined if, during
pla yba ck of a known good ta pe , the re is good sound, but no
picture (picture is e xtre m e ly snowy). If this is the case, have
the D V D /V C R che cke d by qua lifie d se rvice personnel.

Auto Clock Setting
N ote s for C a na dia n custom e rs re ga rding the clock feature of the your D V D /V C R .
T he X D S signa ls a re ca rrie d only by ce rta in broa dcast television stations (for exam ple, the signal is carried by
m ost P ublic Broa dca sting S e rvice sta tions). You must be able to receive a station ca rrying the X D S signal to
use the Auto C lock S e tting to se t your DV D /V C R 's internal clock. If you live in an area that does not broadcast
X D S signa ls, you must se t the clock m a nua lly. P lease see page 23 for instructions on how to m anually set your
DV D /V C R 's clock.
Special note for residents of Newfoundland:
T he Auto C lock S e tting ca nnot be use d to set the DV D /V C R 's internal clock to N ewfoundland tim e. T he tim e
zone com m a nd doe s not include a se tting for the N ewfoundland tim e zone. Trying to use the Auto C lock S etting
in the N e wfoundla nd tim e zone could re sult in an incorrect tim e setting or no setting at all. P lease set your D V D /
V C R 's clock using the M a nua l C lock S e tting.
POSSIBLE SOLUTIONS
• S om e discs m ay not do som e of the functions.
• T he setup does not m atch your T V.
• S e lect D isplay O n.
• T he setup does not m atch your stereo system .
• Turn off the unit and unplug the AC power cord for severa l
m inutes, then replug it.
• C he ck the P arental setup.
• M ultilingual language is not recorded on the D V D disc.
• S om e discs have no subtitles.
• S ubtitles a re clea red. P ress S U B T IT LE .
• M ulti-angles are not recorded on the D V D disc.
• T he function is prohibited with the unit or the disc.
