This document reviews the NT 4.0 to Microsoft Windows XP Professional with Service pack 2 Upgrade procedure. This procedure should only be used to upgrade the Agilent 5DX from NT to Windows XP Professional on the Agilent 5DX Advantech IPC 1.0 Ghz and IPC 2.8Ghz Controllers.
TRY_CODE=US CONTROLLER IDENTIFICATION First, identify the controller type in the 5DX. The below figures illustrate the two types of Advantech Industrial PC’s that are addressed by the Windows XP Professional upgrade procedure. 48. At the Start 5DX Interface box: At the “Logon name =” type “s”, press <ENTER>. Scroll down to select “Quit from 5DX”, press <ENTER>. Type “exit” and press <ENTER> to close window down properly. Press <ESC> to terminate the Agilent Auto Reporter.

Remove the CD Drive Shutdown the System 1. Power off the system controller. (Prior to powering off, close any 5DX error boxes and interface screens that may be open and exit from the 5DX interface.) 2. Power off the expansion chassis.
Restore System Specific Files from a Network or a CD RW Drive 1. Logon as Administrator 2. Close any 5DX error boxes and interface screens that may be open and exit from the 5DX interface. 3. On your Windows desktop, open Windows Explorer.

18. The system will automatically reboot and you are complete. Note: Upon rebooting the 5DX, the system may have a core dump with a blue screen. Reboot to continue on to the BIOS Change Procedure KBC Clock Input steps (step 19) or just continue on to the next section -- Install the CD Drive.
21. In the “Advanced” tab, select “I/O Device Configuration.” 22. In the “Device” menu, the first option should be the KBC Clock Input. 23. Currently, this is set to 12Mhz. Select <ENTER>, select 6Mhz and hit <ENTER> 24. Select <F10>. Select Yes and press <Enter> to the Setup Confirmation window to save the configuration changes and exit.
2. Grab handles on the front of the controller and slowly pull the system controller tray out all of the way without completely removing it from the electronics tower. Accept, reject or enter information requested based upon your organization’s needs. 22. During the Install, you may receive a warning notice that your system has not passed Windows Logo testing to verify its compatibility with Windows XP.
System Setup 36. When Windows XP Professional starts for the first time you will be logged in as ‘TestDev’. 37. From the Start Menu go to >Control Panel >User Accounts. Select “Change the way users log on or off.” Deselect “Use the Welcome Screen.” Select Apply Options.
Note: Be sure to obtain a system software license file prior to installing 8.2.3 and any subsequent patches. This can be obtained from your system backup C:\5DX\Rxx\Config file\software.lic or follow the process to obtain the license file off of the website. Copy this file from the backup CD over to the desktop.
