2. Free play
The rear brake pedal free play
should be adjusted to 20 ~ 30 mm
(0.8 ~ 1.2 in) at the brake pedal
end. Turn the adjuster on the brake
rod clockwise to reduce play or
counterclockwise to increase play.

The front brake pads and rear brake
shoes must be checked for wear at the
intervals specified in the periodic
maintenance and lubrication chart.
Each brake pad/ shoes are provided
with a wear indicator groove, which
allows you to check the brake pad/
shoes wear without having to
disassemble the brake. To check the
brake pad/ shoes wear, check the wear
indicator grooves. If a brake pad/ shoes
have worn to the point that the wear
indicator
groove
disappeared, have a Yamaha dealer
replace the brake pads/ shoes as a set.

Apply the brake and inspect the wear
indicator. If the wear indicator is almost
in contact with the disc plate ask a
Yamaha dealer to replace the pads.
