The statistics web page may help the System Administrator calculating an accurate average
cost per page, predominantly for the toner usage. This may be useful interpreting the
accounting data feature
assuming a certain percentage of coverage (typically 5%). This means that if a user prints
'heavy' graphics utilizing more toner coverage, the actual lifetime of the toner cartridge, as
well as other consumables, may be less than anticipated. The toner usage is very dependent
upon the local environment and can only be measured after some time of operation. In most
cases, it is important to know how much toner is being used.
The three columns in the lower part of this web page allow you to retrieve toner usage
statistics over a certain period of time. The column 'Lifetime' shows statistics with regards to
the printer's lifetime. The numbers appearing in this column can't be reset. The numbers
appearing in the 'User' column may be reset to zero values from the control panel of the
Crown II printer. Resetting the numbers in this column allows you to retrieve periodical
statistics. The column 'Service' contains the data after each Preventive Maintenance Service.
Our example shows that from the reset period, 120 A4/Letter and 96 A3/Ledger pages were
printed ('A'). These pages are first converted into equivalent Letter pages ('B'), indicated by
normalized. Together with the accumulated toner usage and media usage, the printer
calculates average toner coverage per Letter page ('C'). In our example, there was an average
toner usage of 11.9% Black toner per Letter page.
The lifetime of a toner consumable is always indicated as the number of A4/Letter pages with
5% coverage. To convert the coverage into another size, you may use the following table:
Normalized value
1
Using this table you may calculate the toner coverage for the type of media you use. Our
example shows that the average Black toner coverage was 11.5% for A4 media and is quite
high compared with the standard 5% value. This means that the lifetime of this toner
cartridge is less than specified.
It is a good practice to reset the User Period immediately after the installation and first
test run of your Crown II printer. The System Administrator may then regularly retrieve
the statistics data for an accurate analysis of the consumable usage.
