NMEA 0183 Interface

The Sea Scout will accept navigation data from a separate
compatible Loran C, Decca, and GPS receiver in the NMEA
0183 data format. This interface has been tested and is
verified to work with the Interphase Pilot GPS. It features a
unique, fully dedicated microprocessor for the NMEA 0183
data port which provides maximum compatibility among
Loran C, Decca and GPS receivers.
If your equipment conforms to the following NMEA 0183
Version 2.0 non-defferential interface protocols, the Sea Scout
is probably compatible- BOD, GLL, IMA, WDR, BPI, BWR,
BWC, BER, BEC, GXP, GDP, GOP, GLP, GGA, RMA,
RMB, RMC. Consult your operation manuals or contact the
manufacturer for further information on interfacing.
The Sea Scout needs to be interfaced via the three pin jack on
the rear panel of the display unit. The pin connections are
shown at right.
Interphase offers a 5-foot long interconnection cable and a
10-foot interconnect extension cable.
For reference, the internal circuity for the Sea Scout's NMEA
input is shown below. This technical information may be
helpful if you have difficulty with the NMEA connections.
