    1) QC Test Overview QC tests are performed at two primary stages, sub-assembly level, and final assembly level. Although several of the procedures are repeated during both stages, the sub-assembly level tests are designed to test all functionality of the electronic sub-assemblies, while the final assembly tests are designed to catch assembly errors.
  • Page 18: Rear Panel Sub Assembly Test

    1 Known Good ME1 Front Panel Sub-Assembly (Front Panel) This front panel should have been reset as described in Section 6 “RESET.” 1 P3 type Alesis Power Supply 1 Computer with AP test equipment, s1_210k software, and ME2 test procedure installed in directory “C:\ME1\”.
  • Page 19 Rear Panel Sub Assembly Test CON’T Plug the P3 type Alesis Power Supply into a power source and the barrel jack into the DUT Power In jack. Verify that the front panel LEDs show the normal power up message, “DEQ224”.

    Panel Sub-Assembly and hold these buttons during Step 2. When started in this manner, the unit will enter Factory Test Mode. Plug the P3 type Alesis Power Supply into a power source and the barrel jack into the DUT Power In jack.

    Sub Assembly is ready for testing. Continue with Power Test. Power Test Plug the P3 type Alesis Power Supply into a power source and the barrel jack into the Rear Panel Power In jack. Verify that the front panel LEDs show normal power up message, “DEQ224”.

    Panel Sub-Assembly and hold these buttons during Step 2. When started in this manner, the unit will enter Factory Test Mode. Plug the P3 type Alesis Power Supply into a power source and the barrel jack into the DUT Power In jack.
  • Page 23 Failure of this inspection indicates a serious problem with current firmware for production. The DUT cannot continue further testing, and the Alesis Engineers listed at the top of this document should be asked for current software or current version of this document before continuing production.
  • Page 24 Front Panel Sub Assembly Test CON’T In order, press Band Button 4 through Band Button 24. Verify that when the button is held, that the column above the button lights, that the number corresponding to the button is shown in the seven-segment display, and that when the button is held, that the LEDs that are on do not flicker.
  • Page 25 Front Panel Sub Assembly Test CON’T Press the BYPASS button. Verify that the Bypass LED lights, and that when the button is held, that the LED does not flicker. Problems with no response or flickering LEDs indicate poor or failed switch, OR failed LED. Either type of problem indicates the test has FAILED.

Verify that the Channel A signal AND Channel B signal LEDs turn on, and that when the button is held, that the LEDs that are on do not flicker. Problems with no response or flickering LEDs indicate poor or failed switch, OR failed LED.

    Make sure that all artwork is clear and correctly aligned. Quickly plug the unit into an Alesis P3 type power supply to ensure LEDs light and proper startup screen appears. While the LEDs are on, check to make sure that the front lens is clear and working as anticipated.

    Press the UP and DOWN buttons on the DUT and hold these buttons during Step 2. When started in this manner, the unit will RESET. Plug the P3 type Alesis Power Supply into a power source and the barrel jack into the DUT Power In jack.
