Starting up the engine (03_05, 03_06, 03_07, 03_08, 03_09)

CAUTION
EXHAUST FUMES CONTAIN CARBON MONOXIDE, AN EXTREMELY HARMFUL
SUBSTANCE IF INHALED. NEVER START THE ENGINE IN CLOSED OR NOT
WELL-VENTILATED ROOMS.
FAILURE TO OBSERVE THIS WARNING COULD LEAD TO UNCONSCIOUSNESS
03_05
AND EVEN DEATH CAUSED BY SUFFOCATION.
ELECTRIC STARTER
Rest the vehicle on its centre stand.
Make sure that the column light switch (1) is in the ''LOW BEAM" position.
Turn the key (2) to the "ON" position.
NOTE
TO AVOID EXCESSIVE BATTERY CONSUMPTION, DO NOT LEAVE THE KEY IN
THE "ON" POSITION FOR EXTENDED PERIODS WHILE THE ENGINE IS NOT
RUNNING.
Check that the "GENERAL ALARM" warning light is extinguished.
Operate one of the brake levers to immobilise one of the wheels (3). If the
vehicle does not start, it means that there is no current at the ignition relay
and so the starter motor does not work.
NOTE
IF THE MOTORCYCLE IS NOT USED FOR A LONG TIME, FOLLOW THE PRO-
CEDURE FOR STARTING THE ENGINE AFTER PROLONGED INACTIVITY.
