Mechanical installation

The camera unit has been designed to allow it to be mounted in any position. It has
mounting interfaces on all sides, but not on front or back. For details, see 14 Mechanical
drawings, page 50.
WARNING
Do not use screws that are too long. Damage to the camera will occur if you use screws that are too
long.
The camera generates a considerable amount of heat during operation. This is normal.
In order to transfer this heat, it is recommended that the camera is mounted on a bracket
or heat sink made of a material with a high capacity to transfer heat, e.g., aluminum. The
use of a cooling bracket or a heat sink is also strongly recommended in order to minimize
the temperature drift of the infrared detector in the camera.
The temperature of the camera can be monitored by looking at the internal temperature
sensors. It is recommended to not let the internal temperature exceed 70°C (158°F) for a
longer period of time. The temperature sensors are available in the camera web interface
or accessible by Software Development Kits (SDK).
For further information regarding mounting recommendations, contact FLIR Systems.
