Releasing the WIRE-S X connection

Press for a second or longer to cancel the WIRES icon on the left side of the frequency
display and return to the VFO mode of the frequency display when WIRES-X is in
operation.
Tip The local node and connected destination node will remain connected.

Connecting to an analog node

When the desired local node is an analog station, use the DTMF function on the
transceiver. For details on how to use the DTMF functions, refer to "Using the DTMF
Function" in the basic operating manual.

Connecting to a node or room on the Internet

Match the frequency of Band A to the frequency of the local node.

Press to switch the communication mode of Band A to the analog FM mode.
Tip For details, refer to "Switching the communication mode" in the basic operating manual.

Press "#" for a second while pressing [PTT] on the
microphone and then press "#" again after pressing
the DTMF ID key of the local node you want to connect
to.
The DTMF code will be transmitted.
Tips • The DTMF ID is a 5-digit number.

Release [PTT] on the microphone, and keep the transceiver in receiving mode for
about 10 seconds
Once connection is established, you will be able to hear audio.
Caution The connected destination screen will not appear.
Tip
You can register up to 9 DTMF codes on the FTM-400DR/DE transceiver. If you register the codes of
frequently-used connection destinations in advance, you can easily transmit the code by selecting it on
the function menu screen and pressing [PTT]. For details, refer to "Using the DTMF Function" in the
basic operating manual.
