Awallthermostatmaybeinstalledifdesired.Con-
nectthewiresasperthewiringdiagrams.
Note: Preferable if the thermostat is installed
on an interior wall.
Hampton offersanoptionalprogrammablethermo-

statbutany250-750millivoltratednon-anticipator
typethermostatthatisCSA,ULCorULapproved
maybeused.
CAUTION
Do not wire millivolt
wall thermostat wires
to 120V wire.
BACK UP BATTERY
In the event of a power outage the unit may be
operatedbyabackupbatterysystem.
1. O pentheright(whenfacingfrontofappliance)
accesspanelbyremoving1screw.
2.Install4AAbatteriesintothebatteryholder.
Note: Removethebatterieswhennormalopera-
tionisresumedastheheatwilldrainthebat-
terypowerrapidly.
REMOTE/IFC (INTEGRATED FIRE-
PLACE CONTROL)
CODING/PAIRING
To codethe IFCto the hand held remote, follow
theprocedurebelow.
1. O penthehebottomfrontaccesspaneloftheunit.
NOTE:EnsurethatthemainON/OFFswitchisin
theONposition.(Unitwillnotfunction,unlessitis
inONposition)
2. P lug in 120 volt power cord into a grounded
receptacleorinstall4AAbatteriesintobattery
packandplugintobatteryterminalslocatednear
thegasvalve.Donotuseboth.Onlyusethe4
AAbatteriesif120voltpowerisnotavailable.
3. P ress down the black button on the left side
panel(whenfacingunit)until3beepsareheard.
4.Install3AAAbatteriesintohandheldremote.
5. P ress the ON/OFF button on the hand held
remote to code the remote to the IFC–after 4
beepsareheard–handheldispairedwithIFC.
MANUAL OPERATION
(NO REMOTE)
Todivorcetheremotetransmitter,presstheblack
button until it beeps 3 times, within 10 seconds
presstheblackbuttonagainuntilabeepisheard. 
Afterdivorcingtheremotetransmitter,theON/OFF
switchatthefrontoftheunitwillcontroltheunit.
FINAL CHECK
Before leaving this unit with the customer, the
installer must ensure that the appliance is firing
correctly.Thisincludes:
1) Clocking the appliance to ensure the correct
firingrate(ratenotedonlabel)at15minutes.
2) Ifrequired,adjustingtheprimaryairtoensure
thattheflamedoesnotcarbon.Firstallowthe
unittoburnfor15min.tostabilize.
3) Checkforproperdraft.
Any alteration to the product that causes
soo-ting or carboning that results in damage
to the exterior facia is not the responsibility
of the manufacturer.
