MAINTENANCE

1. Basic Approach

As with previous hybrid models, the technician first adjusts the acoustic system, then adjusts the silent
system (except for model DGA1, which does not have a silent system), and then lastly adjusts the elec-
trical system using the built-in maintenance and test modes.
Important
Be sure to turn off the main power switch before removing the action or carrying out any other type of
assembly.

2. Acoustic Adjustment

To remove the action (when necessary to perform action regulation or voicing), proceed as follows. Be
careful to keep action clear of treble-side cables and cable connectors.
(1) Set the piano into Acoustic mode.
(2) Switch off the controller power and the main switch (on the Amplifier unit.)
(3) Remove the controller (under the key bed).
(4) Remove the fallboard, key block, and key slip.
(5) Remove the cable connector from the side-arm on the treble side.
(6) Pull out the action.
(7) If necessary, remove the hammer sensor (models C3 to C7).
The screws on the shank-rail side of the hammer sensor secures both the regulating rod and the sensor.
This means that you must remove the regulating rod first, then remove the sensor, then reattach the rod
and carry out adjustment as necessary. If you need to completely remove the regulating rod, you can do
so by first removing the action from the keyboard (to create a gap between the jack and the regulating
button), and then removing the two screws at the treble-side bracket so that the rod comes free.

3. Silent-Mode Adjustment

The DKV MKIII series includes a motor-driven silent mechanism. The user selects acoustic or silent
mode by setting the switch in the switch-box (located on the lower left side of the keybed). If silent
mode is selected, the switch-box LED will light up and the motor on the MD unit (mounted on the right
rear of the key bed) will move the shank stopper and regulating rod into place.
