SECTION 3 - FLASH CODES

Flash Code #1 - Low Battery Voltage

Symptoms:
There is a steady flash of all battery condition meter LEDs.
This sequence is repeated until the fault is cleared.
Diagnosis:
Voltage at the power module is below 22VDC. This is most
likely caused by the batteries not getting charged properly.
Solution:
Use the following procedure to find the source of the flash code:
1. Measure voltage across pin 1 (+) and pin 2 (-) of
connector 1a. See diagram 2 and figure 2.
— If the multimeter indicates 0VDC, then replace the
joystick module (1) and retest the system.
— If the multimeter indicates between 13VDC and
22VDC, then go to the next step.
— If the multimeter indicates 12.9VDC or less, then go to step 8.
2. Plug the off-board charger (connector 7b) into connector 1a and then plug the charger power cord (connector 8b)
into a standard electrical outlet.
3. Verify the charger is charging the batteries by observing the status indicator lights on the charger. Refer to the
charger owner's manual or user's guide.
— If the off-board charger status indicator lights do not turn on, then go the next step.
— If the off-board charger status indicator lights indicate that the charger has power and is charging, then allow the
batteries to charge for 8-14 hours and retest the system.
— If the off-board charger status indicator lights indicate that the charger has power but is not charging, then replace
the off-board charger (7) and retest the system.
4. Unplug the charger power cord (connector 8a) from the off-board charger (connector 7a). (If the off-board charger
power cord cannot be unplugged from the charger, then skip to step 6.)
5. Measure voltage across pin 1 and pin 2 and across pin 1 and pin 3 of the off-board charger power cord (connector
8a). See figure 8.
— If the multimeter indicates about 120VAC for both tests, then replace the off-board charger (7) and retest the system.
— If the multimeter does not indicate about 120VAC for both tests, then go to the next step.
From step 4
6. Unplug the charger power cord (connector 8b) from the electrical outlet.
7. Measure voltage across pin 2 and pin 3 and across pin 1 and pin 3 of the electrical outlet. See figure 9.
— If the multimeter indicates about 120VAC for both tests, then replace the charger power cord (8) and retest the
system. (If the power cord does not detach from the charger, then replace the off-board charger (7) and retest the
system.)
— If the multimeter does not indicate about 120VAC for both tests, then try a different electrical outlet and retest the system.
