INSTALLING AND REMOVING
THE INTERNAL HARD DRIVE
There is a compartment in the bottom of your
notebook which contains the internal hard
drive. The hard drive only needs to be changed
if there is a serious drive failure. We recom-
mend that you have a trained repair person
replace the internal hard drive for you and
re-install your pre-installed software.
C A U T I O N
Contact your support representative
before making any hard drive replacement
whether you or a trained technician is
making the change. You may invalidate
your warranty if you don't.
To Remove the Hard Drive:
1. Turn off your notebook using the Windows
shutdown and the power switch and remove
any power adapter.

2. Remove the four screws from the hard
drive compartment in the bottom of your
notebook. (Figure 5-2.)
3. Carefully remove the cover.
4. Pull gently on the tab to tilt and lift out the
hard drive being very careful not to damage

the flexible circuit connection.
5. Disconnect the connector the very carefully
or you will damage the connector pins.

6. Remove the hard drive.
To Install the Hard Drive
1. Carefully plug in the connector of the new

hard drive being sure to align the connectors.
(Figure 5-2.) Make sure the connectors seat
completely.
2. Tilt and slide the hard drive gen t ly into the
ch a m ber being careful not to kink the flat cabl e .
3. Push the hard drive down gently but firmly.
4. Align the cover with the screw holes.
5.Fit the cover tightly in place.
6. Replace the screws.
