❍ The microphone level resets to [AUTO] when you switch the program selector
to [.
❍ We recommend using headphones when manually adjusting the audio level.
❍ When recording near loud sounds (such as fireworks, drums or concerts),
sound may become distorted or may be recorded not in the actual sound level.
❍ If sound is distorted, turn on the microphone attenuator.
Audio Level Indicator
❍ In auto mode, you can display or hide the audio level indicator by pressing the AUDIO
LEVEL button.
❍ When [MIC LEVEL] is set to [MANUAL], the symbol "M" and a green bar is shown.
❍ The green bar shows the level of the microphone (it increases to the right and
decreases to the left).
[MIC LEVEL] is
set to [MANUAL].

Microphone Attenuator

Use the microphone attenuator if you need to lower the volume level or correct audio
distortion during recording or audio dubbing. Check the audio levels with headphones.

Open the menu and select [AUDIO SET UP]. Select [MIC ATT], set it to [ON]
and close the menu.

Recording with an External Microphone

You can use an external microphone for recording.
Almost all stereo microphones with a plug diameter of
0.14 inch (3.5 mm) can be connected to the MIC
terminal. Use a microphone with a built-in power
supply (condenser microphone).
❍ Use the optional SA-1 Adapter Bracket to attach an external microphone to the
camcorder.
❍ The audio level differs from that of the built-in microphone.
