STARTING AND STOPPING

REWIND (MANUAL) STARTER

TO START ENGINE

When starting engine first time, push primer bulb firmly 5 times as illustrated below and pull starter rope as instructed
below. If engine fails to start after 3 pulls, push primer bulb 3 times and pull starter rope as instructed below.
When starting engine thereafter, push primer bulb firmly 3 times as illustrated below and pull starter rope as instructed below.
[1] Check oil level (see p. 8).
[4] Close

TO STOP ENGINE

CAUTION: Do not stop engine by moving choke
control to CHOKE. Backfire, fire or engine damage
could occur.
[1] Move throttle (if equipped) to SLOW,
then release safety brake control handle.
[2] Move

WARNING
[5] Grasp rope handle. Pull
slowly until resistance is
felt, then pull rapidly to
start engine and avoid
kickback.
OR
[2] Move throttle (if equipped)
to SLOW, then to STOP.
