DSS-24 10/100 Auto Negotiation Switch User's Guide
This chapter gives a physical and functional overview of the DSS-24. The DSS-
24 is an unmanaged switch, designed for use on small and medium sized networks
that require the ability to switch between 10 Mbps and 100 Mbps. The DSS-24
can be used in conjunction with other switches and hubs.
The chapter is divided into several sections. Each section describes the features of
the DSS-24. Many of the topics covered will be dealt with in more detail later in
the manual.

Configuration data held in EEPROM, controlled by an embedded
micro-controller.
Integrated address management, including Layer-2 address
resolution, self learning
Supports up to 8K unicast addresses.
Low-power design operating at 3.3V.
RS-232 console port allows user to configure switch ports.
All ports support store and forward.
Packet forwarding rate at 148,810 packets per second in 100 Mbps
