Spark Plug Checking Spark Plug

6. Disconnect the spark plug cap from the
spark plug.
7. Clean any dirt from around the spark plug
base.
8. Remove the spark plug using the spark
plug wrench and open end wrench
provided in the tool kit.

9. Inspect the electrodes and centre
porcelain for deposits, erosion or carbon
fouling.
If the erosion or deposit is heavy,
u
replace the plug.
Clean a carbon or wet-fouled plug with
u
a plug cleaner, otherwise use a wire
brush.
10. Check the spark plug gap using a wire-
type feeler gauge.
If adjustment is necessary, bend the
u
side electrode carefully.
The gap should be:
0.8 to 0.9 mm (0.03 to 0.04 in)
