STORAGE

WARNING: AVOID INJURY. Read and understand
entire Safety section before proceeding.
SHORT TERM
NEVER spray unit with high-pressure water or store unit
outdoors.
Inspect unit for visible signs of wear, breakage or damage.

TROUBLESHOOTING

PROBABLE CAUSE
1. Uneven unit tire pressure.
2. Mower not level.
3. Damaged gauge wheel or axle.
4. Mower suspension loose.
5. Bent blade.
1. Travel speed too fast.
2. Engine speed too slow.
3. Grass too tall.
4. Dull blade(s).
5. Damaged blade(s).
6. Belt slipping.
1. Spindle/blade blocked.
2. Debris wedged against belt.
3. Loose belt.
1. PTO safety switch improperly adjusted.
2. PTO safety switch faulty.
1. Blade(s) blocked or restricted.
2. Damaged bearing in spindle assembly.
3. Damaged bearings/gears in gearbox.
1. Loose hardware.
2. Debris in mower deck.
3. Mower blades damaged.
4. Mower belt damaged or off pulleys.
Keep all nuts, bolts and screws properly tightened and know
unit is in safe working condition.
Store unit in a cool, dry protected area.
LONG TERM
Clean unit thoroughly with mild soap and low pressure water
and lubricate (see GENERAL LUBRICATION on page 15).
Touch up all scratched painted surfaces.
Remove weight from wheels by putting blocks under frame
or axle.
Store in a dry area.
See the engine manual for additional storage requirements.
CORRECTION
1. Inflate tires to correct pressure.
2. Level mower deck. See MOWER LEVEL
AND PITCH on page 17.
3. Repair or replace damaged components.
4. Check and adjust mounting hardware.
Replace bent or broken components.
5. Replace blade. See MOWER BLADE
REMOVAL on page 15.
1. Reduce mowing speed.
2. Operate unit at full throttle.
3. Increase cutting height and cut grass
twice.
4. Sharpen and balance blades.
5. Replace blades as needed.
6. Check belt tension and wear. Adjust or
replace as needed.
1. Stop unit, remove key, check blades for
blockage or restrictions.
2. Stop unit, remove key, check blades for
blockage or restrictions.
3. Tension belt as needed.
1. Adjust PTO safety switch. See step 9 of
Installation on page 10.
2. Replace the safety switch. See an
authorized Gravely Dealer for service.
1. Stop unit, remove key, check blades for
blockage or restrictions.
2. Replace spindle. See an authorized
Gravely Dealer for service.
3. Replace the gearbox. See an authorized
Gravely Dealer for service.
1. Check and tighten all hardware.
2. Stop unit, remove key, check blades for
blockage or restrictions.
3. Replace mower blades.
4. Install or replace belt.
