Troubleshooting

Symptom
Pump stops without warning.
Pump won't prime.
Pump leaks.
Pump runs, pumps little or no water.

Probable Cause(s)
Pump has overheated and thermal overload has tripped.
Discharge hose too long or discharge lift higher than 28'.
Suction hose not full.
Suction hose too long or too small.
Worn impeller.
Suction leaks.
Suction hose kinked or coiled.
Shaft U-cup seal leaks.
Cover O-ring leaks.
Worn impeller.
Bad motor brushes.
Bad U-cup shaft seal (pump leaks).
Suction or discharge hose kinked or coiled.
Corrective Action
Wait for overload to reset; pump will automatically restart.
Use shorter hose or reduce lift height.
Fill suction hose.
Use 1/2" suction hose, 6' long or less.
Replace impeller.
Replace hose washer, check for leaks in hose.
Straighten out suction hose.
Replace pump.
Replace cover O-ring.
Replace impeller.
Replace motor brushes.
Replace pump.
Straighten out hose.
