Invacare® Sonata

3 Setup

3.1 General Safety Information

When you receive the bed, check the packaging. If the
packaging shows any signs of damage upon delivery, contact
the shipping company.
WARNING!
Risk of injury or damage to property
The assembly of the bed and installation of
accessories must be done by authorized or trained
personnel.
– Follow instructions carefully. If you have any
question regarding the assembly, contact your
local dealer or Invacare representative.
– If the bed shows any sign of damages, do not
use the bed. Contact your local dealer.
– The electrical equipment of the bed must not
be dismantled or combined with other electrical
equipment.
– After each assembly, check that all fittings are
properly tightened and that all parts have the
correct function.
IMPORTANT!
– To prevent condensation, the bed should not
be used until it has reached a temperature of
10-40° C.

3.2 Main parts of bed

The bed can be configured either for manual or
electrical operation.

Scope of delivery:
A Mattress support, head section
B Mattress support, foot section
D Pair of side rails
E Motor / control box or crank for head section
F Motor or crank for thigh section
G Pair of bed ends

H Lifting pole (optional)
Hand control
2 pcs. of mattress support retainers (2–section beds)
4 pcs. of mattress support retainers (4–section beds)

3.3 Assembly of mattress support

CAUTION!
Risk of injuries or finger pinch
– Keep your fingers away from movable parts
during assembling, disassembling or adjusting.
IMPORTANT!
Before any use and before operating the bed:
– Check that the bed is correctly mounted
according to instructions.
– Check that all screws are properly tightened.
– Ensure that the pipe pins are fully inserted
through both holes of the fixation and that the
spring clip is completely locked.
After assembly of the mattress support; check:
– that all plugs of the motors and hand control
are correctly connected to the control unit
according to the printed symbols.
– that top frame, head- and leg end are
completely pushed together.
– that the lock pin is engaged.
– that bed ends are correctly attached.
Sonata can have either a complete or a separated mattress
support.
If your bed is equipped with a complete mattress support,
proceed to 3.5 Mounting of bed ends and legs, page 9 .
Assemble the separated mattress support
1.
Turn the mattress support up-side-down on a flat, clean
surface.
2.
Place the two inserts in the head end of the mattress
support and push the ends together.
3.
Tighten with the two thumb screws.
