Air drill with quick-change chuck

5. Initial Operation
Screw the supplied plug
(no. 5) into the air connec-
tion port. Insert the desired
drill bit (max. Ø 10 mm for
steel and max. Ø 20 mm
for wood) into the chuck
(no. 1).
Secure the drill bit by tight-
ening the quick-change
chuck by hand.
The BM 500 air drill is
connected to a flexible air
hose (inside Ø: 9 mm) with
a quick coupler via the plug
(no. 5). The max. allowable
working pressure (6 bar)
must not be exceeded.
Guide the air drill to the
workpiece. Only now can
you start the air drill by
gently pressing and hol-
ding the trigger (no. 3).
Set the selector switch
(no. 2) to the appropriate
setting for forward or re-
verse drill operation.
F = forward operation
R = reverse operation
6. Care and Maintenance
Complying with these
maintenance instructions
is essential to ensuring
the long life and safe ope-
ration of this high-quality
product.
Lubricate the air drill regu-
larly to guarantee reliable
long-term functioning. Use
special pneumatic oil only
(see chapter 9, 'Accesso-
ries').
The following possibilities
are available for lubrica-
tion:
a) Via an oiler:
A complete service unit
contains an oiler and is at-
tached to the compressor.
b) Via a line oiler:
(see chapter 9, 'Accesso-
ries'):
A line oiler is installed
right next to the tool (at a
distance of approx. 50 cm)
to supply the tool with oil.

c) By hand:
If your system does not
come with a service unit
or a line oiler you must put
3 to 5 drops of oil into the
compressed air port before
using the pneumatic tool
for the first time.
If the pneumatic tool has
not been used for several
days you must put 5 to 10
drops of oil into the com-
pressed air port before
switching the tool on.
Store pneumatic tools in a
dry room.
