Boot/luggage compartment

Saloon: for vehicles with the boot lid remote
closing feature, you can automatically close
the boot lid. For vehicles with boot lid remote
closing feature and KEYLESS-GO: you can
simultaneously close and lock the boot lid.
Estate: for vehicles with KEYLESS-GO, you
can close and lock the tailgate simultane-
ously.

To close: press closing button : in the
boot lid/tailgate.

To close and lock simultaneously:
Press closing button ; in the boot lid/tail-
gate.

If you leave a KEYLESS-GO key in the
boot/luggage compartment, the boot lid/
tailgate will not lock.
HANDS-FREE ACCESS
Important safety notes

WARNING
The vehicle exhaust system can become very
hot. If you use HANDS-FREE ACCESS, you
could burn yourself by touching the exhaust
system. There is a risk of injury. Always
ensure that you only make a leg movement
within the detection range of sensors.

If the key is within the rear detection
range of KEYLESS-GO, the following situa-
tions, for example, could lead to the unin-
tentional opening of the boot/tailgate:
using a car wash
R
using a high-pressure cleaner
R
Make sure that the key is at least 2 m away
from the vehicle.
General notes
With KEYLESS-GO and HANDS-FREE
ACCESS, you can open or close the boot lid/
tailgate or stop the procedure without using
your hands. This is useful if you have your
hands full. To do this, simply make a kicking
movement under the bumper with your leg.
Observe the following points:
Carry your KEYLESS-GO key about your
R
person. The KEYLESS-GO key must be in
the rear detection range of the vehicle.
When making the kicking movement, make
R
sure that you are standing firmly on the
ground and that there is sufficient clear-
ance to the rear of the vehicle. You could
otherwise lose your balance, e.g. on ice.
(Example: Saloon)
Always ensure that you only make a kicking
R
movement within the detection range of
sensors :.
Stand at least 30 cm away from the rear
R
area while doing so.
Do not come into contact with the bumper
R
while making the kicking movement. Oth-
erwise, the sensors may not function cor-
rectly.
HANDS-FREE ACCESS does not function
R
when the engine is started.
If a KEYLESS-GO key is within the rear
R
detection range of KEYLESS-GO, HANDS-
FREE ACCESS could be triggered. For this
reason, the boot lid/ tailgate could open or
close unintentionally, e.g. if you:
set something down or lift something
-
behind the vehicle
polish the rear of the vehicle
-
Do not carry the KEYLESS-GO key about
your person in such situations. You can
