Sugar Cookies and Brownies
BROWNIES
1 cup butter or
2 cups sugar
margarine, soft-
3 eggs
ened
1 teaspoon vanilla
4 ounces (4
1 cup sifted flour

½ teaspoon salt

1 cup chopped
chocolate
nuts
Melt 1/2 cup of butter with chocolate; cool.
Add remaining butter and sugar to Bowl. At-
tach Bowl and Beater. Turn to Speed 2 for
30 seconds, then increase to Speed 6 and
cream for 2 minutes. Stop and scrape Bowl.
Turn to Speed 4 and add eggs, one at a time,
beating 15 seconds after each addition. Add
vanilla and continue on Speed 4 for 15 sec-
onds longer. Stop and scrape Bowl.
Add melted and cooled butter and choco-
late. Turn to Speed 2 for 30 seconds. Stop.
Add flour, salt and nuts and mix on Speed I
until well blended, about 30 seconds.
Pour into a greased and floured 13X9X2-
inch pan. Bake at 350°F. for 45 minutes.
Cool in pan and cut into small squares.
Yield: 5 dozen brownies
