PDU loading:

PDU input power limits are determined by the geography, power type and
line cord. PDU loads are determined by the components that plug into the C13
receptacles. The load can never exceed the maximum allowed amperage (or derated
amperage as required) of the input line cord as listed in the PDU line cord tables (4&5).
Amperage and wattage of the loads can be found in the install documentation for the
individual Cloud Pak for Data System building blocks or in the IBM Site Survey. Verify
all information by cross checking with the rating labels located on the equipment in the
rack.
The power loading of the Cloud Pak PDUs must follow these rules:
1. Total power load that is connected to the PDU must be limited to below the amperage
that is listed in the line cord tables.
2. Total power load that is connected to any one circuit breaker must be limited to 16 A
(derated value of circuit breaker).
3. Total power load that is connected to any one IEC320-C13 outlet must be limited to
10 A.
Note: The load on the PDU when a dual line configuration is used is only half the total
load of the system. When you are calculating the power load on the PDU, you must
include the total power load of each drawer even if the load is distributed over two
PDUs.

Plan for redundant power:

supplies for redundancy. Each power supply is capable of powering the system
component it resides in, but power is split 50/50 when both supplies are energized.
PDUs must be sized to power 100% of the components they connect to in order to
ensure adequate power if one side fails.
