If the computer is on, begin at step 1; otherwise, skip to step
3.

Click Start, and then Turn off or Shut Down (depending on
the system).
The Turn off computer or Shut Down window appears.

Click Turn Off or Shut Down.
The operating system turns off the computer.

Unplug and remove any cables connected to the
computer, including the AC adaptor.

Remove the main battery. For information on removing
the main battery, see
page
113.

Close the display panel and turn the computer upside
down to locate the memory module slot cover.

Using a standard Phillips screwdriver, unscrew the
screws that secures the memory module slot cover.
