21 Cleaning

21.1 Cleaning the Garden Shears, Battery and
Charger
WARNING
To reduce the risk of personal injury from unintended
activation, remove the battery before carrying out any
cleaning work, @ 9. Users of these garden shears should
carry out only the cleaning described in this manual.
To clean the garden shears, battery and charger:
► Clean the garden shears' plastic components with a
slightly dampened cloth. Do not use detergents or
solvents. They may damage the polymer components.
► Do not use a pressure washer to clean the garden shears
or spray them with water or other liquids.
► Keep the battery housing and guides free from foreign
matter and clean as necessary with a soft brush or soft,
dry cloth.
► Keep the charger housing and electrical contacts free
from foreign matter. Clean as necessary with a soft brush
or soft, dry cloth. Always unplug the charger before
cleaning.

21.2 Cleaning the Cutting Blades

WARNING
To reduce the risk of personal injury from unintended
activation, remove the battery before carrying out any
cleaning work, @ 9. Users of this garden shears should
carry out only the cleaning described in this manual. To help
prevent injuries, always wear heavy-duty work gloves when
handling the garden shears or the cutting blades, @ 6.4.

To clean the cutting blades:
► Spray both sides of the cutting blades with a resin solvent,
such as STIHL Resin Remover and Lubricant.
► Insert the battery and switch on the garden shears for a
few seconds to evenly distribute the resin solvent
throughout the cutting blades.
► Do not use a pressure washer to clean the cutting blades
or spray them with water or other liquids.

22 Inspection and Maintenance

22.1 Inspecting and Maintaining the Garden Shears

WARNING
To reduce the risk of personal injury from unintended
activation, remove the battery before inspecting the garden
shears or carrying out any maintenance, @ 9. Carry out
only the maintenance operations described in this manual.
There are no user-authorized repairs. STIHL recommends
that repair work be performed by authorized STIHL servicing
dealers.
To properly maintain the garden shears:
► Replace worn or damaged cutting blades.
► Have worn, missing or damaged safety labels replaced by
an authorized STIHL servicing dealer.
If you make a warranty claim for a component that has not
been serviced or maintained properly, coverage may be
denied.

22.2 Inspecting and Maintaining the Cutting Blades
