Steering Lock
0 Steering is locked when the key is
rem oved. Key can be rem oved
only in this position.
Note:
Do not rem ove key from steering
lock while the vehicle is in m otion
as this will cause the engagem ent
of the ste e rin g lock thus rendering
the vehicle inoperable.
1 Steering is unlocked.
(If necessary, move steering
wheel slightly to turn the key
clockwise to position " 1" ).

P reglowing takes place.
Starting: continue turnin g key
clockw ise to the stop. The starter
is engaged when the key is
pressed against the stop. The
starter nonrepeat unit requires
the key to be returned to position
"0 " p rio r to a new starting at­
tem pt. For starting and turning off
the engine, refer to page 36.
Notes:
The follow ing item s can be operated
with the key in steering lock posi­
tion " 1" .
W iper, w indshield washer, headlight
flasher, e lectric lighter, glove
co m p a rtm e n t light, radio, electric seat
heater fo r fro n t seats.
The pow er su p p ly to the standing
lights is disru p ted if the key in the
steering lock is in position " 2" .
A w arning buzzer sounds when the
key has been left in steering lock
positions " 1" or " 0" and the driver's
d oor is opened.
Idle Speed Adjuster
To increase idle speed, turn knob
counterclockw ise.
To decrease idle speed, turn knob
clockwise.
