ACCELERATOR CABLE INSTALLATION
NOTE: A replacement accelerator cable (P/N N/A) is now available for vehicles that may exhibit intermittent binding or
sticking during operation in cold environments if moisture gets into the cable housing. This cable is nearly a
direct replacement of the existing cable; however, the inside diameter of the through-hole in the vehicle's
cable mounting bracket must be slightly enlarged to accept the new design. The inside diameter of the
hole must be enlarged to 3/8 (.375) inch (9.5 mm).
1.
Install cable through chassis along original route.
2.
If installing accelerator cable (P/N 525 32 82-15), skip this step. If installing replacement accelerator cable
(P/N N/A), perform these additional steps:
2.1. Remove front cowl to access cable mounting bracket. See Front Cowl Removal on page 4-6.
2.2. Move the hydraulic brake hose, located directly beneath the cable mounting bracket, to prevent accidently
puncturing the hose while drilling. Loosen the hose clamp and rotate the brake hose out of the way to allow
sufficient clearance for safe drilling. See following WARNING.
WARNING
• Failure to move the hydraulic brake hose before performing this drill operation could result in damage
to the hose and loss of brake function.
2.3. Use a 7 inch (178 mm) long or longer, 3/8 inch (9.5 mm) diameter drill bit to reach and enlarge the mounting
bracket hole. See preceding WARNING and following CAUTION.
CAUTION
• Keep drill bit perpendicular to bracket to prevent elongating or distorting the hole.
2.4. Remove any metal burrs from around the hole before installing the new accelerator cable. See following
CAUTION.
