ADJUST YOUR TRACTOR
ADJUST THE MOWER DECK LEVEL
(Figures 16 and 17)
NOTE
Before checking the mower deck for levelness,
check the air pressure in all four tires. All tires
must be properly inflated. Correct air pressure
(10-141bs.) may be printed on the sidewall of each
tire. Also, be sure the main frame is level across
the front (from the left side to the right side). If the
main frame does not sit level, the two axle mount-
ing screws may be too tight. The two mounting
screws must be loose enough to allow the front
axle to pivot.
To check mower deck level, do the following:
1. Park the tractor on a firm level surface, such as a
driveway or garage floor.
2. Check the height of the mower deck as outlined in
the Adjust The Mower Deck Height paragraph. If you
need to adjust mower deck height, follow these instruc-
tions.
3. Place the mower deck height adjustment lever in
the mid-cut position.
4. Measure the height from the left hand blade tips, at
the front and rear of the mower deck, to the ground. If
the distances are equal to within 1/8 inch lower in front,
you do not need to level the deck. If the height of blade
tips on the front and the back of mower deck differ by
more than 1/8 inch, you need to
level the deck. Write
down the difference in height from front to back.

5. Measure the height of the left and right blade tips
at the outside edge of the deck. If the blades are equal
within 1/8 inch, you do not need to adjust. If the heigh
of the left and right blade tips on the outside edge of thE
mower deck differ by more than 1/8 inch, you need tc
adjust. Write down the difference in height from side tc
side.
6. If you need to adjust, do so now.
NOTE
The mower deck can be leveled from side to side
and from front to back. If both adjustments must
be made, always adjust side to side levelness
first. All adjustments should be made from the mid-
cut position.
To adjust side to side level, do the following:
1. Place the mower deck height adjustment lever in
the mid-cut position.
2. Put a block under the mower deck high enough to
relieve tension from the mower deck height adjustment
cable.
3. Loosen the locknut (below the clevis) and remove
the hairpin and the clevis from either side of the mower
deck.
NOTE
The left side mower deck leveling adjustment is
identical to the right side.
