Before Starting
NOTE
Be sure thP. engine crankcase is full of oil before try-
ing to start the engine. See the Engine Operating
and Maintenance manual.
Always check the oil level before starting the engine.
1. Remove oil fill cap and wipe the dipstick clean.
2. Screw the oil fill cap/dipstick firmly but slowly until
the cap is fully tightened.
3. Remove the dipstick and check oil level. It should
fall between the ADD and FULL lines. If the oil level is at
or below the ADD line, you need to add oil. Consult your
engine manual for more details. Do not overfill.
IMPORTANT
Your tractor has two normally-open lockout
switches between the ignition key switch and the
starter solenoid. When starting the tractor, the
clutch-brake pedal must be fully pressed down and
the mower clutch lever must be in full DISENGAGE
(UP) position. The engine will not turn over unless
these conditions are met and the "All Systems
Go" indicator will light up.
NOTE
Your unit is equipped with a seat switch. The en-
gine will stop if the operator is not firmly seated in
the operator's seat when the mower clutch lever is
in the ENGAGE (DOWN) position or the clutch-
brake pedal is in the ENGAGE (UP) position.
Leaning forward or to one side on the seat may
cause the engine to stop.
