Repair instructions
Cleaning and inspection
• Clean and inspect all parts carefully. If there are
any cracks or other defects replace the dama-
ged parts with new ones. Lubricate the return
spring with a little grease.
Tensioning the recoil spring

Fasten the starter cord in the notch in the pulley
rim and wind the pulley about 3 turns clockwise.
Check that the pulley is free to rotate at least an-
other half turn when the starter cord is fully exten-
ded.

Replacing a worn recoil spring
WARNING!
Make sure the recoil spring does
not fl y out and cause injury. Wear
eye protection.

Remove the bolt from the centre of the pulley and
lift off the pulley and spring cassette.

Replace the defective spring cassette with a new
one.

Fit the bolt through the centre of the pulley and
tighten to a torque of 2–3 Nm.
Tension the recoil spring, see "Tensioning the recoil
spring".
Starter assembly – refi tting

Position the starter assembly on the crankcase and
tighten the bolts to a torque of 2.5–3.5 Nm.
