maintenance or repair of an energised opened device is unavoidable, this
may only be carried out by a qualified person who is familiar with the related
danger and the respective regulations.
– Condensers in the device can still be charged even though the device has
been disconnected from all power supply units and measuring circuits.
– Be especially careful when handling currents bigger than 35 V direct current
voltage (DC).
– At these high currents when touching an electric conductor you can get a
life-threatening current shock. Switch off the power supply unit first, link
the measuring device with the connections of the power supply unit and
measuring circuit to be connected and then switch on the power supply unit.
After finishing the measurements, switch the power supply unit off and remove
the measuring lines from the connections of the voltage or current supply
source.
– Before changing the measuring range the probe tips or measuring lines of the
measuring object must be removed.
– Check before each measurement the measuring device or measuring lines
for errors.
– Do not work with the measuring device in spaces or unfavourable ambient
conditions that contain or may contain inflammable gases, vapours or dust.
– For your own safety, prevent the measuring device or measuring lines from
getting humid or wet.
– Do not operate the measuring device when exposed to direct sunlight or to
too high (> +40°C) or too low (< 0°C) ambient temperatures.
– Do not operate the measuring device within immediate distance of highly ma-
gnetic areas (loudspeakers, magnets), electro-magnetic areas (transformers,
engines, inductors, relays, contactor units, electromagnet etc.), electrostatic
areas (charge/discharge), transmitting aerial since all points above mentio-
ned may result in an unstable display or too many measuring errors.
– To avoid a current shock, ensure that the probe tips and the connections
(measuring points) to be measured are not touched, not even indirectly, during
the measurements.
