Common Problems during 3708 Logon
This section describes problems that can occur during the 3708 logon procedure.
Symptom Probable Cause Action
Extra, missing, or unintelligible Incorrect line speed Check the speed settings on the
characters on the screen device (and modem) to verify
that they are compatible with
the 3708 port speed definition.
Incorrect parity
Check the parity settings on the
device (and modem) to verify
that they are compatible with
the 3708 port parity definition.
Line trouble (or noise) For switched connections, hang
up and establish a new
connection. For non-switched
connections, contact your
carrier representative.
Nothing on the display screen Port defined for Press the carriage return key.
auto-baud/auto-parity
or EIA 422A connection
Terminal inoperative Verify that your display has
power and is operative; use the
problem determination
documentation associated with
your terminaL
3708 Logon screens excluded Press your CR key and logon to
your host.
No connection for switched line Establish a connection to the
3708 through your modem.
Incorrect modem settings Verify your modem settings
using the documentation
associated with your modem.
Incorrect line speed or parity Verify that your display's speed
settings
and parity settings are
compatible with the 3708's port.
