Starting the engine

Press the fuel pump bulb (4) at least
N
five times - even when bulb is filled
with fuel.
Cold engine (cold start)

Press in the choke lever (5) at the

edge (arrows) and then turn it to g
Also use this position if the engine has
been running but is still cold.
Hot engine (hot start)
The engine has reached its operating
temperature, is stopped and then
restarted after more than 5 minutes.

Starting
Lay the machine on the ground in a
N
secure position: It must rest on the
hip plate on the engine and the
deflector for the cutting attachment.
The cutting attachment must not
touch the ground or any other
objects
Assume a firm stance – possibilities:
N
standing, bending or kneeling.
Press the machine firmly against
N
the ground with the left hand – do
not touch the throttle trigger or
throttle trigger lockout while doing
so
Do not stand or kneel on the shaft!
Grab the starter grip with your right
N
hand
Another possibility:
With a hot engine and the machine
suspended on the harness.
Hold the machine firmly with the
N
right hand on the drive tube
assembly, handlebar support or
handlebar
Press the machine behind the back
N
on the left side of the body
Grab the starter grip with your left
N
hand
Pull the starter grip smoothly
N
Do not pull out the starter rope
completely – risk of breakage!
