STEPPER MOTOR REMOVAL AND
REPLACEMENT
Removal
1.

Power off.
Disconnect the head cable connector

from the
diskette drive control card

and remove the head
cable from the cable guide

Remove the cable guide

CAUTION
The drive band assembly can be easily damaged. Do not
bend, dent or scratch the drive band.

Remove the three screws

and

and the
clamps

that attach the drive band

to
the stepper motor pulley

and carriage bracket
II.
(Note the position of the drive band and clamps
for the replacement procedure).
5.
Remove the drive band.
6.
Measure and record the gap

between the stepper
motor pulley and casting.

Move the stepper. motor pulley

by hand to track
40 and insert the timing pin

Loosen the screw

and remove the stepper motor
pulley

and the clamp

Disconnect the stepper motor cable connector

from the diskette drive control card.

While holding the pulley and timing pin, remove the
stepper motor mounting screws

Remove the stepper motor

Replacement
1.

Reinstall the stepper motor by using the mounting
screws. (Ensure that the stepper motor cable faces
toward the diskette drive control card

Reconnect the stepper motor cable connector

to
the diskette drive control card

3.
Reinstall the stepper motor pulley and the clamp.
(Adjust the gap

the dimension recorded in the
removal procedure step 6.)
CAUTION
The drive band assembly can be easily damaged. Do not
bend, dent, or scratch the drive band.

Go to 365, step 1 (Drive Band Replacement).
