Features

The BasX A-400Z Zone Distribution Amplifier is an audio distribution amplifier that combines two
powerful channels of high-quality audio amplification with four separate relay controlled pairs of
speaker outputs. This makes the A-400Z the ideal choice for driving two pairs of 4 Ohm speakers,
or up to four pairs of 8 Ohm speakers, in different zones. And, because the A-400Z is designed
to work with loads as low as 2 Ohms, and is stable into even 1 Ohm loads, it is also the perfect
amplifier to pair with difficult to drive loads like certain electrostatic loudspeakers. The A-400Z
also features a built-in 80 Hz high-pass filter, avoiding the need for a separate crossover if you use
it in a system with a subwoofer.
Some of The Features of the BasX A-400Z include:
True audiophile-quality sound - As with all of our amplifiers, the BasX A-400Z was designed
first and foremost to sound superb in a wide variety of audio applications.
Great sounding Class A/B output stage - ensures smooth detailed sound, and incredibly
natural imaging, without a trace of harshness or strain.
High-current output capability - Each channel of the A-400Z is able to drive combined loads
as low as 2 Ohms, and is stable into loads as low as 1 Ohm, which makes it ideal for driving
multiple pairs of speakers in different zones, or for driving difficult to drive loads like low-
impedance electrostatic loudspeakers.
Full-sized speaker outputs - Four sets of full-sized five-way binding posts, each set
controlled by its own relay, and operated by convenient front-panel pushbuttons.
Audiophile-grade fault protection - entirely transparent under normal conditions, yet
protects the amp and your other equipment from all common fault conditions.
Buffered line-level output - for connecting additional stereo amplifiers or powered
subwoofers.
Rear panel Master Volume control - enables you to set the gain on the A-400Z to match
your requirements and other equipment.
Switchable high-pass filter - A switchable 80 Hz high-pass filter allows the A-400Z to operate
full range, or to work seamlessly with one or more powered subwoofers.
Remote trigger input and output - allow the A-400Z to be turned on by trigger-enabled
equipment, and to activate other trigger-enabled equipment.
Top quality parts and construction throughout - promise years of reliable service.
All-metal chassis and faceplate - The heavy steel chassis and aluminum faceplate on the
A-400Z offer both strength and rugged good looks.
Universal AC line voltage operation - The BasX A-400Z will operate on either 115 VAC or
230 VAC, at 50 Hz or 60 Hz, and automatically detects and switches to the correct line voltage.
Standard IEC power inlet - fits all standard and audiophile IEC power cables.
Fully three year warranty - ensures that you'll be able to enjoy your A-400Z for years to
come.
