BasX A-400Z

Introduction

Thank you for purchasing the new Emotiva BasX A-400Z Zone Distribution Amplifier.
The BasX A-400Z is a high-current two-channel audio distribution amplifier with some unusual and
exceptionally useful features. The BasX A-400Z combines two powerful channels of high-quality
audio amplification, with flexible relay-controlled output switching, and the ability to drive even
the most difficult loads. The A-400Z utilizes proven technology, including class A/B output circuitry,
a processor controlled intelligent protection system, and true commercial grade construction and
components, to deliver excellent sound, superior technical performance, outstanding reliability, and
amazing flexibility.
The powerful audiophile grade Class A/B stereo amplifier inside the A-400Z is capable of delivering
100 watts RMS/channel into 8 Ohms, 150 watts RMS/channel into 4 Ohms, and 250 watts RMS/
channel into 2 Ohms, with an extremely low noise floor and vanishingly low distortion. The A-400Z
has four separate pairs of full-sized speaker terminals, each controlled by its own relay, each
operated by a convenient front panel push-button.
The A-400Z is the ideal choice for powering several stereo pairs of speakers in different zones, and
can power up to four pairs of 8 Ohm speakers, or two pairs of 4 Ohm speakers. And, because it can
power loads as low as 2 Ohms, and is stable into loads as low as 1 Ohm, it is also the perfect choice
for driving difficult loads - including certain electrostatic and ribbon speakers whose impedance
dips very low at certain frequencies.
For unmatched flexibility, the BasX A-400Z also features a built-in 80 Hz high-pass filter for use with
systems that include one or more subwoofers, and a rear-panel Master Volume control for matching
the gain of the A-400Z to your other gear.
Happy listening!
The Emotiva Team
