7 Electrical System Service
Miscellaneous Component Tests
K. PTO Clutch
Refer to Section 14, PTO CLUTCH SERVICE, for com-
pete PTO clutch testing information and replacement
procedures.
L. Headlight Test
1. Remove the socket (A, Figure 33) and bulb (B) by
twisting the socket counterclockwise and pulling it out
of the bezel (C).
2. Visually inspect the bulb. If the filament is burned
out, replace the bulb.
M. Headlight Switch Test
1. Label and remove the wire harness from the head-
light switch terminals.
2. Set the VOM to Ohms.
3. With the switch OFF probe both terminals. The VOM
should read no continuity.
4. Turn the switch to ON. The VOM should read conti-
nuity.
N. Fuel Solenoid Test
Refer to the engine manufacturer's operator's manual for
information relating to engine components.
NOTE: The fuel shut-off solenoid is located on the bot-
tom of the carburetor float bowl (see Figure 35).
1. Turn the ignition switch from OFF to RUN. There
should be an audible "click" as the shut-off solenoid
opens.
If there is no "click" use a VOM set to VDC. Test the
voltage between the solenoid lead and ground. With
the ignition switch in the RUN position, the lead
should have 12 volts. If not, check the ignition switch
and wiring.
If the solenoid is receiving 12 VDC and is not open-
ing, replace the solenoid.
O. Voltage Regulator
Refer to the engine manufacturer's operator's manual for
information relating to engine components.
P. Alternator
Refer to the engine manufacturer's operator's manual for
information relating to engine components.
