• Always keep the steam generator away from children. Never leave the appliance unattended until it has cooled down
(around 2 hours). Never leave your appliance unattended when it is plugged into the mains.
• Always unplug your appliance:
- Before filling the water tank or rinsing out the steam generator tank
- After use.
Before cleaning
• Before unscrewing the steam generator drain plug, always wait until the generator is cold (unplugged for more than 2
hours).
• Never fill up using the drain opening (except for cleaning).
• Never immerse the generator in water or any other liquid. Never put it under the tap
• When rinsing out the steam generator tank, never fill directly from the tap.
• If the appliance falls, receives a violent blow or is not operating correctly, do not dismantle it as this could be dange-
rous: take it to an Approved Service Centre.
• If you lose or damage the steam generator drain plug, have it replaced by an Approved Service Centre.
• This appliance is designed for domestic use only.
In the case of professional use, inappropriate use or failure to comply with the instructions, the manufacturer accepts
no responsibility and the guarantee does not apply.

WIRING INSTRUCTIONS

Warning : this appliance must be earthed.
Important : the wires in this lead are coloured in accordance with the following codes :
- Green and yellow : earth - Brown : live - Blue : neutral.
• Connect the green/yellow wire to the terminal in the plug marked "E" or by the earth symbol
low.
• Connect the brown wire to the terminal in the plug marked "L" or coloured red.
• Connect the blue wire to the terminal in the plug marked "N" or coloured black. A 13 amp fuse should be fit-
ted when the appliance is connected to a BS 1363A plug.
Seek professional advice if unsure of the correct procedure for the above. Important : If the electrical cord of this
appliance is damaged or shows signs of wear, it must only be replaced by an authorised Tefal Service
Centre (see section After Sales Service).

13- IS THERE A PROBLEM ?

Problems
Water is dripping from the holes
in the soleplate.
Whitish water is being discharged
through the holes in the soleplate.
Brownish water is dripping from the
holes in the soleplate and may stain
the laundry.
The soleplate is dirty or brown and
is soiling the laundry.
There is little or no steam
Steam is coming out of the steam
generator tank plug or from under
the appliance.
Never dismantle your iron : always take it to an Approved Service Center

Possible causes
You are using too much steam at
too low a temperature or before the
iron is sufficiently hot.
Water has condensed in the pipes
because you are using steam for the
first time or you have not used
it for a while.
The steam generator tank is discharging
scale because it has not been regularly rinsed. in every 10 times it is used.
You are using chemical descaler
products or additives in the water
used for ironing.
You are using a temperature setting
that is too high.
Your washing has not been adequately
rinsed or you are using starch.
The steam generator tank light is not
on or the red water tank light comes on
even though there is still water left in the tank.
The water tank is empty
(red tank empty light on).
The steam control dial is set to
minimum.
The drain plug has not been
tightened correctly.
The appliance is defective.

Solutions
Reduce the steam flow when ironing at
a low temperature (steam control dial on
base).Wait until the iron indicator light
goes out before ironing.
Press on the steam control away
from the ironing table until the iron
gives out steam.
Rinse the steam generator tank once
Never use this type of product in the
steam generator tank (follow our
recommendations on the water to use)
Refer to temperature setting
recommendations.
Always spray starch on the other side
of the fabric to the side being ironed.
Press on the "on" button.
Fill the tank up and press on
the "on" button.
Increase the steam (dial on the base).
Tighten the drain plug correctly.
Do not use the steam generator; contact
