Safety information
This manual contains information that must be observed to ensure your personal safety and to prevent
property damage. The notices referring to your personal safety are highlighted in the manual by a safety
alert symbol. Notices referring only to equipment damage have no safety alert symbol. Warnings are
shown in descending order according to the degree of danger as follows.
Danger
indicates that death or serious injury will result if proper precautions are not taken.
Warning
indicates that death or serious injury may result if proper precautions are not taken.
Caution
with a safety alert symbol indicates that minor personal injury can result if proper precautions are not taken.
Caution
without a safety alert symbol indicates that damage to property may result if proper precautions are not
taken.
Notice
means an undesirable result or state can occur if the corresponding instruction is not followed.
If multiple levels of hazards can occur, the highest level warning is always displayed. A warning with a
warning triangle indicating possible injury to personnel may also include a warning relating to property
damage.
Qualified personnel
Startup and operation of the device / system in question may only be performed using this documentation.
The device / system must always be commissioned and operated by qualified personnel. Qualified per-
sonnel as referred to in the safety information in this documentation are those who are authorized to start
up, ground and label units, systems and circuits in accordance with the relevant safety standards.
Proper use
Note the following:

The unit may be used only for the applications described in the catalog or the technical description, and
only in combination with the equipment, components and devices of other manufacturers where recom-
mended or permitted by Siemens. Smooth and safe operations demand proper transport, proper storage,
installation and assembling as well as careful operations and maintenance.
