Installing a board

Installing a board
The number, position and arrangement of the board slots on system board can be found in the
technical manual for the system board. Boards may be installed when the device is shipped.
If you want to install an audio card, you may have to switch off an existing onboard audio controller
in the BIOS Setup. If you want to install a graphics card, you may have to switch off an existing
onboard graphics controller in the BIOS Setup. For additional information, see the description
provided with the board.
Installing a board
Open the system unit (see "Opening the system unit").

Press the rear slot cover plate out of the slot.

Do not dispose of the rear slot cover plate. For cooling, protection against fire and in order

to comply with EMC regulations, you must refit the rear slot cover plate if you remove the
board.
Take the new board out of its packaging.

Make the required settings for the board.
Ê
Push the board up to its slot (1).
Ê
Press the board into the slot so that it engages.
Ê
Fix the board with the screw (2).
Ê
If necessary, plug the lines on the board.

Close the system unit (see "Assembling the system unit").

If you have installed or removed a PCI board, check in the BIOS Setup the settings for the

relevant PCI slot. If necessary, change the settings. Further information is provided in the
documentation for the PCI board.
