EOF Sensor Test

This test is used to check the EOF sensor on the engine board. The
Power Light blinks rapidly when the test is entered.
Move the EOF flag in and out of the EOF sensor using a sheet of
paper placed in the manual feed. The Busy Light goes on and off as
the flag moves in and out of the sensor.

Encoder Sensor Test

This test is used to check the encoder sensor and the encoder
sensor strip. The power light blinks rapidly when the test is entered.
Unplug the transport motor cable from the engine board.
Manually moving the carrier to the left causes the power light to
come on solid.
Manually moving the carrier to the right causes the busy light to
flash.
If the test fails, unplug the printer and remove the carrier assembly
without unplugging the printhead cables.
Plug the line cord into the power supply and check for +5 V dc at
pins 1, 2 and 3 of the encoder card connector.
1. If the voltage is not present, check the printhead cable for opens
to the encoder card. If the printhead cable is good, replace the
engine card.
2. If voltage is present, check the sensor on the encoder card by
monitoring pin 3 of the encoder card connector as you pass a
piece of paper through the sensor. The voltage should go from
+5 V dc to 0 V dc. Unplug and replug the printer to make this
check. If the voltage at pin 3 does not change, replace the
encoder card. If the symptom remains, replace the printhead
cable.
