Playing the sound muted (Silent Piano mode)

You can play with the sound muted and listen to the digital sound through the headphones. The sound cannot
be heard from the piano. The movement of the keys is detected by the optical sensors and transmitted to the
tone generator, and then the sound is output from the headphones.

Rotate the [VOLUME] control to the far-left
position to set the volume to minimum.

Press the [P] (Standby/On) switch to turn the power on.

Stop the acoustic piano sound by one of the following operations.
For upright pianos equipped with a sostenuto pedal
• Pull the silencing lever towards you until you
hear a click and feel the mechanism catch.
For upright pianos not equipped with a sostenuto pedal
• Press the center pedal and slide it to the left.
For grand pianos
• Make sure that the [Aco.] lamp is
turned off.
If the lamp is lit, press the [VOLUME] control
to turn it off.

Plug the headphones into the [PHONES] jack (page 16).

While playing the keyboard, adjust the volume level by rotating the [VOLUME]
control.
Rotating to the right increases the volume, while rotating to the left decreases it.
NOTE
The physical sound of the keyboard mechanism remains even when playing in the Silent Piano mode.
