TROUBLESHOOTING

If you have problems, here are some suggestions that might help. If they do not,
take your scanner to your local RadioShack store for assistance.
PROBLEM
Scanner is on but will not
scan.
Scanner is totally inopera-
tive.
The scanner's display
dims.
Keypad does not work or
display randomly
changes.
Poor or no reception.
Error
appears.
While scanning In the
scan mode, the scanner
locks on frequencies that
have an unclear transmis-
sion.

POSSIBLE CAUSE
is not correctly
SQUELCH
adjusted.
Only one channel or no
channels are stored.
The scanner's display
must be reset.
No power.
The AC or DC adapter is
not connected.
The AC or DC adapter is
not providing the required
voltage.
The scanner's display
must be reset.
An antenna is not con-
nected or connected
incorrectly.
Programmed frequencies
are the same as "birdie"
frequencies.
Programming error.
Programmed frequencies
are the same as "birdie"
frequencies.
REMEDY
Adjust
clockwise.
SQUELCH
Store frequencies into more
than one channel.
Reset the scanner's display
(see "Resetting the Scan-
ner's Display" on Page 10).
Make sure the scanner is
plugged into a working AC
or DC outlet.
Be sure the adapter's barrel
plug is fully plugged into the
jack.
DC 12V
Make sure the AC or DC
adapter is set to provide the
required voltage.
Reset the scanner's display
(see "Resetting the Scan-
ner's Display" on Page 10).
Make sure an antenna is
correctly connected to the
scanner.
Avoid programming fre-
quencies listed under
"Birdie Frequencies" on
Page 30, or only listen to
them manually.
Reprogram the frequency
correctly, including the deci-
mal point.
Avoid programming fre-
quencies listed under
"Birdie Frequencies" on
Page 30, or only listen to
them manually.
