FINDING AND STORING
ACTIVE FREQUENCIES

Searching the Service Banks

Your scanner contains groups of preset
frequencies called service banks. Each
service bank is associated with a specific
activity (see "Understanding Service Banks/
Banks" on Page 10). You can search for fire/
police, air, ham, and marine transmissions
even if you do not know the specific
frequencies that are used in your area. Then
you can store the frequencies you found into
the scanner's channels or monitor memories.
Note: You can use the scanner's delay
feature while searching the service banks
(see "Using the Delay Function" on
Page 20).
The following steps describe the operation of
the HAM, FD/PD, and AIR service banks. To
listen to the marine bank, see "Listening to
the Marine Bank" on Page 19.
1. Press
. The last selected band

frequency and the group number (if any)
appear.
2. To select a different band, repeatedly
press
until the desired band name

appears on the display. After about 2
seconds, the scanner begins searching
rapidly up or down in that band for an
active frequency.

• To reverse the search direction at any

store the displayed frequency in the

stores the displayed frequency. The
scanner then continues to search for
frequencies.
Notes:
• If there is no empty channel,
