    2. Terminal Setup To configure the system, connect a serial cable to a COM port on a PC or notebook computer and to serial (console) port of the Switch. The console port of the Switch is DCE already, so that you can connect the console port directly through PC without the need of Null Modem.

    3. Logon to the Console Once the hardware connection and the terminal program are ready, power on the Switch.     4. Configure IP address The default IP address of the Switch is “192.168.0.100”. If you want to change the IP address, for example, change the IP address to “192.168.99.234” with subnet mask. “255.255.255.0”, please enter the command: set system ip 192.168.99.234 255.255.255.0 As show in Figure 4-1.

    5. Start Web Management The Switch can be fully managed by console. It also provides a convenient Web management interface for remote management. This chapter guides the quick access to the Web Management Interface of the Switch. Since Web Management Interface can be accessed by Ethernet connection, the administrator workstation must be in the same IP segment as the Switch.
