EM- 12 ENGINE MECHANICAL - Timing Belt
4 . REMOVE RADIATOR UPI'ER HOSE
6. LOOSEN DRIVE BELTS
8 . REMOVE FLUID COUPLING WITH FAN SHROUD
7 . REMOVE DRIVE BELTS
8. REMOVE AIR INTAKE CONNECTOR
9. SET NO. 1 CYLINDER TO TOC/COMPRESSION
10. REMOVE NO. 3 TI MING BELT COVER
Remove the five bolts and remove the cover and gasket.
11. RELIEVE TIMING BELT TENSION
tal Loosen the idler pulley set bolt a little and shift the
idler pulley to the alternator stde with a screwdriver
and wrench.

tighten the set bolt and then relieve t he timing
belt
tension.
12. REMOVE TIMING BELT FROM CAMSHAFT TIMING
PULLEYS
13. REMOVE CAMSHAFT TIMING PULLEYS
Using SST to hold the pulley, remove the pulley set bolt,
timing pulley. and match pin.
SST 09278-6 40 12
CAUTION: Do not mako uae of t he timing bolt ten olon
when removing end ln11alling the pulley oet bolts.
NOTE: The exhaust and intake sides each use a differ·
ent type of pulley - they are not interchangeable.
14. REMOVE CRANKSHAFT PULLEY

Using SST to hold the crankshaft pulley, loosen the
pulley bolt .
SST 0 9 21 3-70010 and 0 9330-0002 1
Cbl
Remove the SST and pulley bolt.
