Operating modes

With all Kronos AIO models, the customer has the possibility to easily select various operating modes in order
to each their sustainability goals related to environmental and noise pollution. These operating modes are Eco
Mode, Quiet Mode and Hibernate Mode.
Quiet mode
Quiet Mode significantly reduces sound levels while printing. Eco Mode optimises printer settings to minimise
the environmental impact, including the option to operate in Quiet Mode.
OFF
The parameters that are changed when "On" is selected (see below) are returned to their factory
default state. This mode will support performance claims for the product.
ON
AIO will be configured to run in a reduced noise mode. Primarily, the user is trading performance for
quieter operation.
The following parameters are affected:
Process speed is reduced
Beeps are disabled or minimized (key press, alarms, etc.)
Upon receiving a print job, engine motors are not ramped up prior to the job being ready to
actually print.
Fans run in reduced speed or turned off.
Eco mode
Eco Mode optimizes printer settings to minimize environmental impact. Eco Mode allows customers to
configure the printer to minimize energy consumption, especially when not printing, and to reduce the amount
of paper consumed when printing.
OFF
Settings/parameters that were changed when other modes (Energy, Energy/Paper, or Paper) were
selected are returned to their factory default states. This mode will support performance claims for the
product.
Energy
AIO will be configured to be ecologically sensitive with respect to energy use. Choose this mode if
interested in minimizing energy consumption, esp. when not printing. The user may also trade Time-
To-First-Page performance (but not the fidelity of the print job) for ecological sensitivity. The following
settings are affected on Kronos 3 & Kronos 2
→ Sleep Mode is set to 30 minutes.
→ Operator Panel backlight is turned off while in Sleep Mode.
→ Upon receiving a print job, engine motors are not ramped up prior to the job being ready to
actually print.
Energy/Paper
Includes all of the settings associated with Energy mode plus duplex is enabled on the device.
Paper
Duplex is enabled on the device.
